Common Questions
Does what we talk about remain confidential? Yes. Confidentiality is one of the most important aspects of a counseling relationship. You can trust that the sensitive issues discussed will remain private. Your informed consent will be obtained in writing if you request information to be shared. The only exception is where state law and professional ethics requires disclosure in the event of suspected neglect, abuse or the threat of serious harm to self or others.
Do I really need counseling? Everyone goes through challenging situations. Sometimes it’s helpful to seek support. Counseling can provide encouragement, clarity and tools to overcome some of the difficulties in your life.
What happens during counseling? Each person is unique with different needs. The counseling process will therefore go in a direction that is best for the individual. The issues of concern will be discussed in an open, loving manner. As requested, prayers will be offered for guidance, relief and understanding. Solutions will be explored.
How does video counseling work? The counseling you receive is the same as in-person counseling. The difference is in the logistics. Forms and documents will be exchanged through email or the regular mail. You simply set up an appointment and connect online when it’s time for your appointment to begin.
